Two little letters

No entry streetFrom the very outset our experience of the world is divided into positives and negatives.
These are the cans and can’ts that define permissions, and affirm or frustrate the will.
By the age of two, we little omnipotents deflect impediments back in defiance: No, No, No!
For a while there is relish in the derring-do of recalcitrance, until the dawning realisation that the clash of conflicts is a no-win situation.
We learn a different tack and come at things from the opposite direction, where evidently things must be either off or on.

  1. This is such a beautifully-worded line,”we little omnipotents deflect impediments back in defiance: No, No, No!” I was one such little omnipotent once upon a time 😉
