In my sky at twilight

canary wharf sunset + In my sky at twilight poem

en mi cielo al crepúsculo eres como una nube*

In my sky at twilight you are like a cloud
the bloody blot on the landscape of how
at the going down of yet another sun
I am bound to remember

nebulous drifts of our begetting
adrenalin of missed beat, whipped cream
apassionata and F minor finale when nimbus
drowned the foetid love rat

yes we have grown old – and apart
separately decaying to the very marrow
line upon line, a limp, sans the sensual sense
of catch-as-catch-can

and how we caught fire
my rogue capture, your tender trap
a muse, always there had to be amusement
til it turned silly and sour in the hollow depths

at dawn you’re the dusty mote of memories
the nightly prod to wakefulness from wishes
unfulfilled, like the wasted hours,
like a cloud in my sky at twilight

  1. oh heck – that is tough – the growing apart…painful
i’m just about to trying to restore and safe my marriage – we had a tough time those last years – growing apart as well… there’s hope though if both really are willing to work on things

  2. Laura you captured the scene beautifully again. I felt the painful memory…the quick beginning of love and passion that burned out and then that last stanza….ouch! Fabulous and it did bring up one burned out relationship for me.
